Institute of Anything is Cubitt's programme for 13-19 year olds. Young people work alongside contemporary artists, develop skills and make friends. It’s called Institute of Anything because anything is possible. We support young people to take their art practice in new directions.

We organise projects throughout the year, including a summer school, delivered in partnership with Central St Martin's.

“Institute of Anything showed me that you can take art anywhere and make it your own.”

"I enjoyed being able to do what I wanted."

"It was very fun and the collaboration was a really good way of forming friendships."

In previous projects, young people have made photographic portraits with Gisela Torres, written and performed poetry with Sophia Thakur, produced a collaborative zine with Soofiya, created Gifs and short films with Betsy Dadd, and conducted social experiments with Ali Eisa. They've also visited exhibitions, organised their own shows and worked towards an Arts Award.

Since 2017:

  • 91 young people have participated in Institute of Anything, working alongside 31 contemporary artists
  • 30 young people have gained Arts Award Silver
  • 33 young people have gained Arts Award Bronze
