Cubitt's Summer Ball was an annual celebration event designed for and with older people in Islington which ran from 2010 to 2018.

Held in Islington's Assembly Hall it was an occasion to bring together all the groups Cubitt work with throughout Islington as part of the Adults and Commuity programme as well as community partners such as Claremont Project, The Peel and Girdlestone Art Group. 

Each year the event ewas an eclectic mix of live workshops, artwork displays and dance performances on the chosen  literary theme. The Summer Ball was funded through the WORD Festival and over the years themes have included The Magic Word, A Graphic Novel and Literary Nonsense.

The event was much anticipated by many Islington residents as an opportunity to have cake and tea, show off their creativity, laugh at each other, join in the dancing and have a great time.
