Private View: Wednesday 7 December 2016, 6:30 - 8:30PM with a special Street Fighter II game tournament

Exhibition Run: 8 – 18 December 2016

Here Comes a New Challenger is an exhibition featuring video interviews relating to the 2D arcade game Street Fighter II and the closure of two key London game arcades, Trocadero and Casino.

As part of an ongoing research project by the artists David Blandy, Larry Achiampong and James A. Holland, this collaboration with Curatorial Fellow Morgan Quaintance–the last project for his Cubitt Fellowship–focuses on the cultural impact, social networks and practices that the game produced in London during the 1990s and early 2000s.

Following a Street Fighter II tournament held on the night, visitors have the opportunity to play the game on vintage machines on display as part of the exhibition.
