Cubitt’s Board of Trustees (“the Trustees”) have ultimate responsibility for the health and safety of all Cubitt employees, visitors and contractors. 

Health and safety at Cubitt will be reviewed periodically by its Health & Safety Committee to ensure that policies and risk assessment templates remain updated, effective, and proportionate for Cubitt’s capacity as a small charity. 

Cubitt is committed to the principle that everything must be done as safely and securely as possible and supports the provision to:  



  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment, ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of employees and others who may attend Cubitt’s activities or visit Cubitt artists’ individual studios.  

  • Ensure all artists with studios at Cubitt understand their responsibilities around health and safety, hold copies of relevant policies and put into practice preventative measures 

  • Ensure all artists with studios at Cubitt hold public liability insurance as they hold responsibility for actions in their respective studios

  • Promote positive accident prevention through risk assessments and the Health & Safety Committee comprised of Cubitt’s staff, volunteer artists, and relevant members of the Trustees

  • Promote positive security incident prevention and response through clear reporting channels set out in related policies

  • Implement a risk assessment process to identify hazards and eliminate or reduce the risk to tolerable levels  

  • Comply with all current health, safety, security and fire prevention legislation 

  • Provide adequate training and expert knowledge and advice for Cubitt employees, contractors and volunteers through its Health & Safety Committee   

  • Provide appropriate mechanisms to communicate safety and security measures, and for colleagues to partake in a positive safety and security culture 

Cubitt is fully committed, so far as reasonably practicable, to ensuring that adequate resources are made available to comply with health and safety regulations, and to provide the opportunity for continuous improvements to reduce the risk of personal injury, ill health, and, or damage to property and the environment.
