Cubitt is an artist-led co-operative built on a belief in the value of art and artists in society. The co-operative is made up of 30 practicing artists working in different media and at various stages in their careers. All studio members take on a co-operative job such as building maintenance or fundraising and join a co-operative committee such as Public Programmes or Seeds (an optional committee for BIPOC co-operative members and staff). This ensures that studios remain affordable and the organisation is artist-led.

The studios are ground floor and have 24/7 access, wifi, central heating and a project space. Rent is inclusive of electricity, water, building insurance and service charges. Cubitt is located near Angel tube station.

To apply please download the forms here. Or email an expression of interest to [email protected]cubittartists.org.uk and we will send you a copy of the application forms. Cubitt Studios are open to all practicing artists and we particularly encourage applications from BIPOC artists.

Cubitt co-operative membership applications are considered according to:

  • Applicants’ demonstrable interest in and commitment to Cubitt’s co-operative values and model. This includes applicants’ commitment to be present in the studios and carry out their co-operative job on a regular basis.
  • Applicants’ skills and/or willingness to learn skills relevant to the co-operative running of Cubitt.
  • How might co-operative membership support and benefit the applicant.
  • Proactively redressing the under representation of BIPOC artists within Cubitt’s co-operative membership. As an artist-led co-operative organisation it is important that our membership reflect the diversity of the borough and city around us.

Viewings: Studio viewings will take place via Zoom on Thursday 17th September. To sign up for a Zoom studio viewing applicants must book a time slot on Eventbrite.

Please see here for measurements of studio entrances and communal spaces. If you have any queries or wish to discuss access requirements and reasonable adjustments please email [email protected]cubittartists.org.uk.
