Cubitt is building on Islington’s history of radical publishing with our community press: a place to gather, share stories, record our neighbourhood and support local justice projects.

The Community Distribution Centre is a space to amplify stories from our borough across London (and beyond). We are working with print and radio to support local organising, creative resistance, and collective storytelling as tools for radical imagination. These induction sessions are for community members, local organisers, and those interested in using the risograph to resource their work.

We’re open to everyone, but are especially interested in supporting local projects and community groups who would benefit from access to radio and print tools. Kids are welcome!

The Cubitt Community Distribution Centre opens the risograph once a month for public use. After completing an induction, you can sign up for future Open Print Sessions and use the machine for your own projects.

OPEN PRINT SESSIONS

Open Print Sessions are for people who have already completed an induction and would like to return to print their own work.

These are shared printing sessions for producing posters, zines, flyers, newsletters, and other community resources. Please come with your artwork, text, or materials ready to print. Contact us beforehand so we can make sure there is enough time and capacity for everyone who signs up and to ensure we have enough materials.

Spaces are limited and booking is required. Printing costs are not included.

WHAT IS A RISOGRAPH PRINTER?

Riso machines are built for fast and affordable printing. Using a stencil-based process and vibrant inks, they create prints that fall between silkscreen and photocopies! Historically, Riso machines have been widely used to mass-produce posters, flyers, pamphlets, and small books. They work well with both text, images and hand-made illustrations.

FAQ: WHO ARE ISLINGTON RESIDENTS / COMMUNITY?

We welcome everyone who is currently living, working and organising in Islington (and its neighbouring areas). We know that many folks who have grown up  in the area have had to move due to gentrification and changes to our neighbourhood, so if you have a close relationship with the borough, local knowledge, generational ties to this community, you’re very welcome to join us!  If you’re from surrounding areas/boroughs/neighbourhoods and feel connected to this project- you are also welcome!
