Community Publishing Think-in at Cubitt #2

5th Sept, 5 - 7 PM.

Calling all local gossips, activists, artists, local historians, community storytellers, writers, makers, and more!

Building on a rich history of radical publishing in Islington, Cubitt is thinking about opening a community press to be a collective resource to share stories, record alternative histories, and to support social justice projects. We believe in owning our means of production and making autonomously within and for our communities.

Join us to talk about Cubitt’s upcoming community publishing projects and think with us about what it would mean to host a press within our gallery and artist co-op.

In this second think-in, we will gather folks interested in collectively run publishing projects, and continue to think together about what this would look like at Cubitt. We are looking for people interested in stewarding the project.

This is open to everyone but we’re especially interested in meeting folks who live, work, or have a relationship with the borough of Islington. Please book a special Islington community ticket if this applies!

A vegan meal will be served after the meeting.

FAQ - WHO ARE  ISLINGTON RESIDENTS / COMMUNITY MEMBERS?

We welcome everyone who is currently living, working and organising in Islington (and it’s neighbouring areas). However, we alson know that many folks who have historically grown up  in the area have had to move due to gentrification and the changes to neighbourhoods, so if you have a close relationship with the borough, local knowledge, generational ties to this community, you’re very welcome to join us!

For example - you could be part of a group that organises in Islington and live elsewhere or  someone who grew up here and no longer lives in the area etc.

We want this to be a local project so are interested in folks with a relationship with the general Islington area, but if you’re from surrounding areas/boroughs/neighbourhoods - you are also welcome!

If you have any questions, suggestions on who to invite or would like to share your relationship to the borough, please get in touch by emailing: [email protected]
