As part of the extended programme for Two Films About Love, Cubitt presents a screening of Les Filles Destinées (The Daughters of Destiny) by Valentin Noujaïm.

On the closing night of their favourite bar, Eden, Crystal and Ibtissame, experience strange events. Crystal mysteriously disappears, kidnapped by a purple star. Eden sets out to find the one she loves, only to discover that Crystal is trapped in a parallel and fantastic world.

VALENTIN NOUJAÏM graduated in 2020 from the Fémis film school in the script department.

He directed a first documentary film, Avant qu'elle oublie Héliopolis, as well as an experimental film, L'étoile bleue, supported by the Doha Film Institute and the AFAC and presented at the Visions du Réel international festival in Nyon (2020) in the international competition. In 2022–23, he was selected for the Salon de Montrouge in Paris and the Getting Real Biennial in Los Angeles.

Currently completing a guest student program at Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main, DE, Noujaïm was formerly a resident at Artagon, Marseille, FR (2022) ; Ateliers Medicis, Paris (2023) ; Académie de France à Rome — Villa Médicis, Rome, IT (2023) and at Lafayette Anticipations, Paris, France (2023). The artist has started a trilogy of videos entitled La Défense. The first part, Pacific Club, premiered at CPH:DOX where it received a special mention from the jury. The film also entered the public collections of the CNAP in 2023. The second film has just been shot with actress Kayije Kagame. The three films will be accompanied by a series of sculptures.
