Venus of Willendorf: Artist Unknown

Venus of Willendorf / Artist Unknown is a screening and conversation on method and collapse with writer Travis Jeppesen: reflecting on contamination, sincerity, and distance. With works by Julia Heyward and readings from Jeppesen’s recent object-oriented writing.

Travis Jeppesen‘s novels include The Suiciders, Wolf at the Door, and Victims. 16 Sculptures, his object-oriented writing project, was featured in the 2014 Whitney Biennial and will be presented at Wilkinson this summer. A collection of novellas, All Fall, is forthcoming from Publication Studio.

Julia Heyward‘s work centres around language, embodiment and channeling and has since the 1970s taken the form of performance, video and installation, including key works Shake Daddy Shake, 1976; This is My Blue Period, 1977 and Conscious Knocks Unconscious, 1977.

The event accompanies The Shape of a Right Statement, Cynthia Maughan with Ben Kinmont and Wu Tsang.
