Programme Events Past Events The V-Conspiracy The V-Conspiracy – Refunctioning Authorship or, After Appropriation and Institutional Critique with Sidsel Meineche Hansen, Fatima Hellberg and Sven Lütticken Saturday 29 November 2014, 1.30 – 3.30pm at If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution (Amsterdam) Let us start from the premise that ‘appropriation’ necessitates an address to ownership and to the proper/property form, and that ‘institutional critique’ must encompass self-reflexivity. In these terms, what is at stake in returning to such artistic practices of the 1970s and 1980s through the lens of feminist imperatives? The willful (miss)behavior of the ‘V-Girls’ will lend the discussion focus—a group of women scholars, artists and performers who, in 1980s New York, orchestrated incisive parodies of the academic authorial form of the panel discussion. The event continued the engagement with If I Can’t Dance, which saw a first iteration at Cubitt as Why Does Fred Sandback’s Work Make Me Cry? (15 November 2014). Booking for this event has now closed.
