From 5th to 9th of February 2014 at Cubitt Gallery

Private View: Wednesday 5 February: 5-7pm

In summer 2013 Cubitt was commissioned by Islington Council’s School Improvement Service to develop a project that would explore how art can be used in the classroom to support the teaching of issues linked to identity and diversity.

Three Cubitt artists developed unique projects in three Primary Schools: Canonbury, Thornhill and Hugh Myddelton. They were each given a different focus: individual identity, group identity and the self within art, specifically portraiture.

The outcome is an amazing variety of work, from food sculptures to photographic portraits, that is both unique to its creators and suggests themes relevant to the lives of Islington’s children today. Children that took part were invited to attend the private view with their parents.
