On 23rd July 2013 Cubitt Education held a picnic on Islington Green to celebrate our exhibition of work by local older artists, ‘Someday is Today’. It was also part of our Public Wisdom programme, which aims to creatively connect older people with the public realm.

The picnic was for, and led by, our local seniors and included a ‘flashmob’ disco dance; a life drawing class led by artist Darren Marshall; poetry readings; a ukelele group; and a live band from The Drovers Centre, alongside a picnic lunch provided thanks to the support of the Business Design Centre. The event was attended by around 100 participants making it a great success.

The picnic was part of our joint campaign to make Angel an ‘Age Friendly Town Centre’, which we are developing in partnership with Angel AIM, Age UK Islington and Claremont Project.
